A Conversation: Learning from Landscape with Paul Darling, HC Palmer and Mark Turcotte
Переглядів 15Місяць тому
When most people hear the term landscape, they think of geography, a physical landscape. However, for the artist, the term “landscape” refers to much more than a fixed physical location. Personal landscape may refer to a mental or emotional place that shapes the writer’s perspective. Just as for a painter, elements such as light and shadow, the time of the year, or events in the painter’s life ...

Kind of weird the audio was muted during the pledge of allegiance. I've never seen that in any other representative body meeting. I wonder why

The lack of audio during the Pledge of Allegiance was unintentional. Unfortunately, none of the microphones in the room were able to pick up the audio. We have discussed the issue with our production team and should have the problem corrected for the next meeting.

My gr gr grandfather Andrew Doud of Trading Post Kansas had a general store (now a museum) and was burned out several times. One time he buried the money and told his little girl where it was buried, if he didn't come back and fled. Another time a Missouri soldier flipped a $20 gold piece on the ground after burning them out and said "let it not be said chivalry is dead" we stil have that gold piece. He also served as a representitive.

your room use numbers are off at central, probably because you consider each station in the maker space a room.... They're booked through the same system. It could also be all of the homeless people who eat up all of the smaller rooms at Central, every day....

Scandalous! You are damaging the public trust by publishing clearly edited versions of public meetings. I've NEVER seen so many edits on a public meeting posted by a public agency in Kansas. Why were there edits at 9m19s, 12m04s, 18m41s, 26m03s, 33m30s I've been watching this library board's meetings now for at least 5 years. Something isn't right here.... This written message is a request for records under KORA. Requesting the original, unedited video of this meeting. You may post it here and link to it from the description on this video. You are damaging the trust of the public by publishing clearly edited versions of public meetings. To regain that trust at this point honestly i think you need to have a clock visible in the video going forward. So attendees witness the time and the public online have some assurance it's not been trampered with

My 3rd Great Grandfather was part of the Black Bob band. His name was Edward Crane but his Shawnee name was Wo-wah-tah. He, his wife Mary and my 2nd Great Grandmother Hattie were 3 of the 722 Loyal Shawnee who moved to Oklahoma and were adopted by the Cherokee Nation. I am in the process of joining both tribes. I am also trying to find out more about Wo-wah-tah, his wife, and his parents. Additionally I want to learn what clan he was part of and what his name means. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for contacting Johnson County Library! To get started with this research, we recommend searching on The Gateway to Oklahoma History at gateway.okhistory.org. They have Dawes rolls and some general history about the Shawnee Tribe that might be helpful. If you would like to get in touch with the presenter of this program for more specialized research, please submit your contact information to us at the following website: www.jocolibrary.org/contact and we will pass it on to Jim Lee.

What did you do to dry this out before making new filament? Water / Hydrolysis shortens the plastic links and makes brittle filament unless well dried.

I think we had two CW. The first was with England, because were subjects. The second was the Civil War. That said, I think the CW started in KN - MO border war. It is crazy when you look at history. Could you imagine living like this? The Union General had no choice. He had to cut off their food supplies. I know it sounds crazy, but the people he put out were feeding the bushwackers. I think the bad blood still exist because of the SCV and the UDC, who rewrote the history books to make the CSA the heros.

The Second Battle of Boonville, fought in 1861 is the first instance of escaped slaves being armed and uniformed to fight for the Union- in an integrated force. The newly immigrated Germans who made up the Boonville Home Guard gladly accepted the help. An escaped slave had warned the town of imminent attack and later killed his "owner" who was leading the attack. A letter from a southern sympathizer confirms this fact (Thoma, 2005).

This IS NOT MESSY! One side wanted to continue and expand human bondage, after Haiti, after Jaimaica, after Mexico had ABOLISHED slavery. The US was BEHIND in the DEVELOPMENT OF FREE MARKET CAPITALISM (that thing we are supposed to be uniquely good at), exactly because of SLAVERY! So, using violence to put an end to a clearly inhumane, AND CLEARLY less efficient way of doing the Economy. So, killing a tiny % of the population willing to fight, die, support human slavery, is actually a good thing. Kill all slave holders, let God sort em out in heaven.

A preacher riding with the jayhawkers looted every church in the town. Gravestones were carried off to use as doorstoops in Lawrence. Those homes were specifically targeted for burning in the Lawrence raid, along with businesses that had "fenced" stolen goods (and, some said, "freed" slaves).
